MKVcleaver is a simple, small, free application that allows extracting data from MKV video files. It is a GUI (Graphical User Interface) for the MkvToolNix software, therefore in order to be able to properly use MKVcleaver you also need to install MkvToolNix. Happily, both these tools are lightweight, small and free.
Multiple MVK video files can be loaded to the processing lists and data can be extracted from these files at once. These batch processing capabilities are one of the most remarkable advantages brought by this application.
MKVcleaver allows extracting any kind of data from the MKV videos, without being limited to extracting only the video and audio tracks. It can also extract subtitle tracks, attachments, tags, timecodes, cuesheets and chapters.
It comes with many handy additional options and features, such as support for VFR detection, support for drag and drop, file naming settings, and many more. Converting h264 tracks to AVI is also possible.
This tool is also simple-to-use and intuitive, thanks to its neat and straightforward interface. Its only downside might be the fact that it doesn’t allow saving extraction sessions, but it’s a minor disadvantage that can be easily ignored. MKVcleaver is a nice free tool that works flawlessly and deserves every credit.
